Biography

A. Ozan Bicen, PhD attending IEEE EMBC 2016 NSF Conference and receives Award for Young Professionals. A. Ozan Bicen received his B.Sc. degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Middle East Technical University (METU), Ankara, Turkey, in 2010. He received his M.Sc. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Koc University, Istanbul, Turkey in 2012. He worked with Prof. Ozgur B. Akan from 2009 to 2012. He obtained his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, Georgia in 2016. He worked with Prof. Ian F. Akyildiz from 2012 to 2016. During 2015 summer, he was a visiting researcher at Tampere University of Techniology, Tampere, Finland. He worked with Prof. Yevgeni Koucheryavy.

He is currently a research engineer working with Prof. Omer T. Inan in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. His current research interests include statistical signal processing, non-invasive physiological sensing systems, computational medicine, and molecular communication using mass transport mechanisms and signal transduction.

  • Detection of worsening condition in patients with heart failure using ballistocardiogram (BCG), seismocardiogram (SCG), and electrocardiogram (ECG) signals.
  • Template-based modeling and synthesis of cycle-averaged ballistocardiogram (BCG) signals for noise analysis.
  • Detection of noisy ballistocardiogram (BCG) measurements using matched filtering, and validation based on human subject experiments.
  • Prediction of cardiac pre-ejection period based on multiple regression of time interval features extracted from ballistocardiogram and electrocardiogram signals.
