Biography

A. Ozan Bicen, PhD attending IEEE EMBC 2016 NSF Conference avd receives Award for Young Professionals. A. Ozan Bicen received his B.Sc. degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey, in 2010. He received his M.Sc. degree under the supervision of Prof. Ozgur B. Akan in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Koc University, Istanbul, Turkey in 2012. He obtained his Ph.D. under the supervision of Prof. Ian F. Akyildiz in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, Georgia in 2016. During 2015 summer, he was a visiting researcher at Tampere University of Techniology, Tampere, Finland.

He is currently a postdoctoral fellow under supervision of Prof. Omer T. Inan in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. His current research interests include statistical signal processing, physiological sensing systems, nanomedicine, wireless communications, and internet of things.

  • Detection of condition worsening in heart failure patients using ballistocardiogram and electrocardiogram signals.
  • Statistical modeling and synthesis of ballistocardiogram ensemble for personalized noise analysis based on template matching.
  • Prediction of cardiac pre-ejection period based on multiple regression of time interval features extracted from ballistocardiogram and electrocardiogram signals.
  • Wearable sensing systems based on bioimpedance and skin strain for IV infiltration detection.
