Some things to write home about...
It is still really beautiful here. In fact, it's been consistently 80 degrees since my last post. I think YOU should come visit. The time spent sitting in the sun is reason enough. So what have I been doing with all this nice weather? Feeling sick, running out to play at the first sign of recovery, and then after a fun day coming home to feel sick again. I still have tummy rumbles and intermittent headaches, but I haven't had a fever since it first hit, so I'm not too worried. My productivity at school has taken a dive though. Now that "spring break" is over and tests are on the horizon maybe I'll get back to it.
We hosted one of Sarah's college friends this weekend and I had way too much fun doing so (see above). We took her to Stone Mountain, the confederate version of Mt. Rushmore, for a laser show... which was... interesting. But the picnic the 9 of us packed was out of this world, so I have no complaints. In fact, I think I would go again for giggles.
After the show we got all dressed up for a prom party but then left 10 minutes after arriving because we were all so tired from the night before. That night started off innocently enough at the Sweetwater brewery tour... but we all know how that ends. (6 am dance party at my place.
What, that wasn't obvious?)
What, that wasn't obvious?) Tonight I get to see Lewis Black perform on campus, I'm pretty stoked about that. This weekend my house is having a crawfish boil, and I'm Really stoked about that. Jay ordered 90 lbs of crawfish for the 30 invitees. I can see only good things coming from this.
I have to go to class.

The weather.
Today is the first day of Tech's spring break. Unfortunately, this doesn't apply to me, because Emory had its spring break last week. So I still have classes twice this week. What is it that's making me feel better about not taking a trip home this week?(1) I'll be there May 23-28 for Sasquatch festival (yay!)
(2) Well I was going to put a screen shot of google's weather report for Atlanta vs. Seattle, but apparently blogger is being a bitch and won't let me. I'll try later. Moral of the story - it's 70 here and rainy as crap there.
Update:
Otherwise, I was sick this weekend and watched more movies than is good for my mental health. However, while watching The Prestige, I decided to look up Nikola Tesla on wikipedia. I've never really been into biographies before, but I think I may have to look this guy up. Weird city.
I should get ready for school.

New Orleans
That said, here are some pictures from Mardi Gras. It was SO MUCH fun. I drove up with Lauren, Stephen, and Sarah and we stayed with Lauren's friend Beth. She was nice enough to clear some floor space in her livingroom and we were grateful to have it. We met up with some more friends from school there (Jay, Chris and Jeremy), which was nice because they were staying in an apartment closer to the parade route. That meant that I went the entire weekend only using a port-o-potty once. Awesome!
Probably better was being able to go back and forth for food / drinks / dumping of the piles and piles of beads that are continually thrown from the parade floats. It's amazing! I always had the impression that you have to flash to get beads, but people just throw them at you. Being female helps (especially the older ladies or children, for some reason) but yeah, no boobs needed.
Granted, I did see a little of the creepy side of the festivities. Actually more during the day though. Exhibit A is picture #2 (#1 is a parade float that I liked). It's hard to tell, but this is a balcony filled almost exclusively with men in suits. Context is about 3 pm on Bourbon Street on Saturday. They're all holding beads and heckling the masses. Interesting.
What else... I got to try crawfish for the first time. Cajun food in general actually. It was awesome, though Sarah didn't think that the crawfish looked too appetizing. She was later convinced, and now we're talking with Jay about having a crawfish boil at our place later this month. The friend that Jay stayed with is going to drive down with a trunk full of live crawfish. Should be messy, but I'm guessing totally worth it.

Otherwise, it was interesting seeing New Orleans after the storm. I didn't see any damage at all until Lauren got lost on the way to lunch on Sunday, and we ended up in an entire neighborhood of abandoned houses. Nice houses too. It was sad.
I think that's pretty much it. We did go to Bourbon Street on Saturday night, and it was fun, but nothing too crazy. I really went the whole weekend without witnessing any nudity. I was pretty proud of myself.
In other news, tomorrow Ivan and I are volunteering to teach neuroscience to kindergartners. Should be fun.
