From the first wave of experimental worms and viruses, to today's newest surge of botnets with costly payloads, this project will cover the growth and development of the cyber security community in the areas of detection and prevention of malicious code, the identification of computer criminals, and the attack community’s movement into the newest wave of botnets. The detection and prevention section details the techniques employed by individuals and corporations to find and eliminate malware. Identification will encompass how early computer criminals were linked with their exploits and how these experiences have helped advance the capture and prosecution abilities of the cyber security community. Finally, the botnet section will cover the more modern types of attacks and the challenges they present to the cyber security professionals.
