Technology - The aggregation of capabilities, facilities, skills, knowledge and organization required to create a useful product or service.

Technology development - Research and applications for new or enhanced industrial products, including activities to develop technologies, demonstrate the commercial potential of existing technologies, and demonstrate new applications for existing commercial technologies.

Technology transfer - A purposeful transaction between partners designed to allow one partner to acquire technical knowledge, whether codified or tacit, held by the other. It is most often successful through a cooperative activity in which technical knowledge flows in both directions concurrently.

Technology deployment - Applying existing technology to improve a company's competitiveness. Includes activities to help small enterprises utilize technologies to improve their overall ability to conduct business.
