VITA

Stylianos (Stelios) Kavadias is the Edward J. Brown Jr. associate professor of Technology and Operations Management at the Operations Management area of the College of Management at Georgia Tech. His research focuses on new product development and the management of technology. In particular he is interested in the challenges that arise during the NPD portfolio selection decisions, and in the managerial problems that emerge during the new product co-development efforts irrespective of whether these lie within the firm (i.e. management of new product development teams, or incentivizing cross-functional workgroups) or they take place across firms (technology licensing and management of co-development projects). Stelios’ work has been awarded the 2nd prize in the George B. Dantzig Best Dissertation Competition, organized by INFORMS and it has appeared on Management Science and Production and Operations Management. He serves as an Associate Editor for Management Science’s R&D and Product Development Department, and as a Senior Editor for the Management of Technology department of Production and Operations Management. He has also served as an ad-hoc Senior Editor for the New Product Development, R&D and Project Management department of POM.

Stelios is teaching a new product development MBA elective, and he is contributing regularly to open enrollment and custom executive programs on innovation and project management at the Huang Executive Education Center at Georgia Tech’s College of Management. He has authored several case studies through close collaboration with major firms in a variety industries.
