About Ivan

My name is Ivan Scott and my debut novel is titled An Invincible Summer. Want to know more about the author? Please take a minute and scroll down.

Name: I was named after my father, Ivan Sr. Scooter or Scoot is my nickname. I have my Mom to thank for that one when it got back to the guys in college. The name stuck, and ever since all my friends use the nickname.

Age: 37

Live: I have lived in Atlanta for 13 years. I live in a suburb called Vinings which is inhabited by a lot of young professionals. The grocery store down the street is nicknamed "The Hook Up Publix," since it attracts the younger crowd who have their minds on shopping, as well as picking up groceries....WHOA! I grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee and was born in Flint, Michigan.

And the big question....Maritial Status: Single, but was engaged once. She sobered up before I could get her to the church, so next time I will plan accordingly....

Professional: I graduated with a degree in Communications from East Tennessee State University, and was a two year starter for the soccer team. My first professional job was with the Atlanta Braves PR Department. I also worked at World Championship Wrestling, and many other departments at Turner. And yes, I have LOTS of stories! Currently, I work at Georgia Tech, managing the programming for the campus television station. It's a good job and I enjoy working with students, but if we get enough people to buy this book, then I will be able to do this full time. So PLEASE buy a copy of my book!

Likes: Good dogs (I volunteer at the Atlanta Humane society), writing fiction, having a brown (Bourbon) on a fall Saturday afternoon with my friends while tailgating, or watching a college football game at home (I am a HUGE Tennessee fan), reading (I like a wide range of authors and genres), my convertible, tall redheads, my softball teams, rib eye steak, Klondike ice cream bars, Hershey's with almonds, Spree candy, Chick-fil-A Lemonade, and a smile from a pretty girl. Also, if I had a wish, it would have to be either having Genevieve Gorder from Trading Spaces barefoot in my condo (Gen always decorates barefoot) OR having Julianne Moore barefoot in my condo. On second thought, how about wish #3, and have them BOTH in my condo barefoot at the same time? Um, put me down for a yes on that one please....haha

Dislikes: Smoking and tattoos usually top the list, plus cruelty to animals, snooty people, Monday mornings, writer's block, losing, and people with no heart.

Music: I enjoy almost every type of music from Garth Brooks to Metallica. From Phantom of the Opera to CCR. There is nothing better than listening to The Dave Matthews Band while driving down Peachtree Street in my convertible on an autumn evening. Garth Brook's song The Dance is my favorite.

Movies: I have several favorites, but Field of Dreams, A Few Good Men, Dead Poets Society, Good Will Hunting, Scent of a Woman, With Honors, For Love of the Game,The Godfather I and II, Ocean's 11, Any Given Sunday and Braveheart top the list. As far as guy movies, Caddyshack, Animal House, Porky's, Major League, Tombstone, Bull Durham and Ferris Bueller's Day Off will work just fine. The romance classics such as Casablanca, An Affair to Remember, Gone With the Wind, Serendipity, You've Got Mail, Sleepless in Seattle, Say Anything and Meet Joe Black are excellent too.

Favorite quote: "You know we just don't recognize the most significant moments of our lives as they happen. Back then I thought, 'Well, there will be other days. I didn't realize, that was the only day.'"

Burt Lancaster, Field of Dreams

Favorite quote #2: "You know the Greeks didn't write obituaries. They only asked one question after a man died: Did he have passion?"

Dean Kansky, Serendipity

Quote from the author: An Invincible Summer is my debut novel, and like a first born, I will always feel a certain something for it. My writing style is considered passionate, but not just passion between man and woman, although that is one of the themes. I also write passionately about life, about family and friends, and how we choose to live our lives while on Earth. My largest fear is leaving this world with nothing of worth to show for the time I was here. Maybe, with this creation, and hopefully many more to follow, I will have left something for those who come after.
