The
Old Vinings Inn is a tradition everyone should experience! Located a stone's
throw away from Overlook at 3011 Paces Mill Road, this is the place for a first
date, or a relaxing drink with friends after a work.
I
live in the Overlook section of Vinings. Up the hill from this sign is a cemetery
overlooking Atlanta, hence the name. The cemetery was owned by the Paces family,
who also have a few streets named for them in town. The hill was important in
the Civil War, and is a recognized landmark by the State of Georgia.
Across from the Old Vinings
Inn, is Caribou Coffee. Their deck is crowded every morning, especially on
weekends, with people sipping coffee and reading the paper. Another nice spot
in the neighborhood.
The
Barnes and Noble up the street from Overlook has every book anyone could ever
want. I have spent so much time there both reading and writing, I should get
my own room!
Across
Northside Parkway from Barnes and Noble is the other giant bookstore, Borders.
If I had a dime for every day I walked into that place!
As
mentioned before, here is the "Hook Up" Publix, smack dab in the middle
of Vinings. Lots of young professionals shop here, as well as across the street
at the Home Depot. Nice place to be on Saturday mornings!
Grape
is a wine bar in Vinings that has great atmosphere and, of course, a great wine
selection. It is a good thing I live within walking distance of this place!
The Paces Cemetery in Vinings is a very tranquil place to visit. Sometimes,
I will take my notebook and write a few chapters while sitting on the bench.
From there I can see the Buckhead and Atlanta skylines in the distance. There
is something peaceful about this place, maybe that is why I like to write there.
However, I do not go there at night!
This
is the Vinings Mellow Mushroom. Mellow Mushroom, has the best pizza! The only
drawback is they don't deliver, but we will forgive them this one fault... We
spend Wednesday night's playing trivia at the Mellow Mushroom in an Atlanta
suburb called Brookhaven, so we try to get our weekly pizza fix while answering
trivia questions.
