Austin Powers, International Man of Mystery

release year: 1997
genre: comedy (spy spoof)
viewing setting: home DVD, 8/4/02 in addition to previous times

synopsis: Thirty years ago, top British secret agent Austin Powers froze himself so that he could come back when his nemesis Dr. Evil returned. Well, it happened, and he has to stop Evil from doing bad things. If, that is, he can successfully adjust to the 1990s.

impressions: This movie was mostly about Austin trying to adjust to modern life, while bringing his 1960s flair to things. Much chaos. It was mostly goofy, a parody of James Bond. There were some funny moments and lines, but it was no Airplane!

acting: Mike Myers can act goofy - no doubt in my mind now. There's also Elizabeth Hurley, who's simply gorgeous.

final word: Fairly amusing, and it might appeal more to the older crowd.
