Deep Star Six

release year: 1989
genre: sci-fi/horror
viewing setting: home VHS, 10/16/98
what I expected: underwater horror cheese
what I got: underwater horror cheese

synopsis: An underwater drilling station opens a deep underwater cave, releasing a nasty monster that begins killing them all.

impressions: This was basic entertaining sci-fi/horror stuff. It's been done better, but the underwater aspect was kinda neat. Complaint: from the initial signs, I'd thought the monster to be much larger than it actually turned out to be. Oh well, logic isn't always a feature of movies like this.

acting: Decent, though I spent most of my time watching Nia Peeples, who walked around in a tank top with no bra. Miguel Ferrer did a good job of playing a complete fuck-up, a guy who made multiple critical mistakes that caused people to get killed.

final word: Entertaining and watchable.

rating: C
