Last Man Standing
release year: 1996
genre: action
viewing setting: home DVD, 3/15/07 and 3/31/01
synopsis: A drifter who's good with his twin automatic pistols comes to a tiny town in the middle of nowhere and gets involved in a war between two local gangs.
impressions: This is basic shoot-em-up stuff: Bruce Willis just goes around refusing to be pushed or messed with, while profiting from both sides in the conflict. It's a simple plot (and one that's been done many times in the movies) but it moves along and should appeal to action fans, or fans of Walter Hill's directing style.
acting: Bruce Willis does what he does best: play slightly imperfect anti-heroes. Christopher Walken is good as a creepy, ruthless bad guy.
final word: Basic, entertaining violent shooting movie.
