TU

Hello, my name is Ted Ullrich. I am an industrial designer and engineer fascinated with interactions, or creative mashups between the digital and physical worlds. In this intersection, I see the future of technology products and an engaging way to interact with information.

I'm motivated by a few simple things. I believe that struggle is satisfying while convenience is death. Bicycles, honesty, relentlessly developing a life passion, urban density and the internet are our ways out. I’ve learned that beautiful things grow out of nothing. I’ve been told that ‘I cannot save the world’ and ‘I cannot be everyone’s hero’.

You can download my resume and design portfolio, I know that's the real reason you came. I also keep a flickr stream, a tumblr and a vimeo log that people like to look at.

Checkout the wall, a social billboard experiment of user-submitted digital images projected in a public space. I think it needs a home, don't you?

I hold a Bachelor's Degree of Inventive Design Engineering from Purdue University (BSE), and a Master's Degree of Industrial Design from Georgia Tech (MID) and have studied architecture in and around Copenhagen, Denmark. I will never be done with learning new things.

I look at interaction from the physical side too. The goal of my masters project was to explore and develop prototypes to physically display digitally conveyed information like the weather report, the presence of an email from a friend, or the notification of a shipment arrival at home.

I enjoy making innovative digital interactions to push the use of the web to new areas. I use flash with actionscript, HTML, CSS, Javascript (esp. jquery) and PHP. I learn quickly. I coded all and designed some:
